Genji nods slowly.
"Very well, Tsuruchi-sama." Genji proceeds to perform the traditional tea ceremony ( http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1432460 ), going through the motions with utmost care and near perfection. As he finishes the final ceremonial motions, Genji looks to Rekai and smiles. "I hope you don't mind Thousand Temples tea," Genji says in passing. "I know its generally reserved for more formal affairs but I enjoy just a bit of indulgence once in awhile." Genji grins, chuckling slightly. The scent of ginger and star anise hangs in the cool, winter air; the mere presence of the tea seems to make the temperature a bit more comfortable.

Rekai watches ((or does whatever your supposed to do, cause I personally have never been in one)). She inhales the scent of the tea and relaxes a bit. "Thousand Temples is tasty on any occasion. I think that's why it's usually used for formal affairs, you can bet that most people will enjoy it."

Genji smiles brightly.
"Indeed, Tsuruchi-sama... and I am glad you approve." Genji seems to relax a bit as he takes up his tea cup. After a small sip of tea, he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, letting it out slow. "Splendid." He whispers setting down the cup. Taking a honeyed rice cake from the sweets tray, Genji takes a slow bite and smiles, nodding with obvious approval.

Genji nods.
"Indeed, I have recently come to bask in the glory of this blessed place. I had heard such good things about Amatsutaki no Onsen from my brothers in the Crane. I couldn't help but acquire an invitation to Toturi-dono's court." He takes a sip of his tea, turning his head to the side, his long braid sliding across his back. "Have you enjoyed your time here, thus far, Tsuruchi-sama?"

She pauses to really consider this. Have I? "To be perfectly honest, Daidoji-sama... I have." she says the last part with a little bit of surprise at herself. Apparently so! "I have met many pleasant people, and greatly enjoyed their company. The waters of the Onsen have been warm and welcoming and the recent snows bring a refreshing crispness to the air. I think I am truly glad I was invited to attend." She smiles.

Genji smiles and nods.
"That is good to hear. This humble one hopes that his stay can be as pleasant as yours." He pauses for a moment taking a sip of his tea. "I had my concerns. When I entered the Onsen I met a most... distressed Kitsu. Though he spoke harshly, I could tell that his words were brought on by a deep sadness. I was concerned that whatever ailed him so would have an effect on the rest of the onsen. Generally, when one of the noble houses of the Lion is distressed..." Genji trails off, closing his eyes and shaking his head. After a moment he takes a honeyed cake off the tray and pops it into his mouth delicately, a faint smile returning to his face.

Rekai eyes the Crane thoughtfully. She resists the attmept to raise an eyebrow at the mention of the Lion. "There have been reasons for sorrow here at the Onsen. I would hope that the Kitsu you met will be able to make peace with whatever is troubling him. But there are opportunities for sorrow and joy wherever one travels. I think one must decide for one's own self which you will dwell on, don't you think, Daidoji-sama?"

"I couldn't agree more, Tsuruchi-sama." Genji nods. "Though I do think that Hotei makes it clear which one the Fortunes would rather we dwell on." Genji smiles a small smile and takes another sip of his tea. "Shinsei too spoke in many parables of not allowing one's life to be ruled by sorrow." Genji pauses for a moment, looking around the garden in silence. "I am sure that Kitsu-san will find peace... the Lion are well known for their ability to battle adversity." Another sip of tea; another honeyed cake. For a moment he just sits there and savors the food. Then, he turns and nods to one of his servants. The man quickly makes his way from the garden, without a word.

"So what brings you here, to this Onsen, if you don't mind me asking, -sama?" Rekai seems genuinely interested, and is enjoying the tea, and the day very much. This is actually a pleasant way to spend some time... Almost relaxing...
She tucks some loose locks of hair behind her ear, and looks out over the pretty garden awaiting his reply. She takes a few more sips of tea.

Genji pauses for a moment, looking over the garden and the surrounding area.
"My family spoke highly of this place... the famed Amatsutaki no Onsen. The beauty of Scorpion lands in winter, the famed healing waters and of course the gracious, Mantis hosts." Genji bows, smiling. "I had to come and see it for myself. And, as luck would have it, I was overseeing a negotiation of favors in Ryoko Owari and saw to it that such was handled rather quickly." Genji sips his tea. "I am pleased that I did too. Between the inherent beauty of this place, the lovely weather on the Onsen grounds and such pleasant music and conversation, this place has truly lived up to its reputation." Genji carefully takes up the teapot and refills his cup, holding the pot out thereafter with a gentle smile.

Rekai accepts a second cup of tea. "I am glad that you seem to be enjoying your stay so far. Perhaps if you enlightened me on some of your interests, treetop musical interludes aside, I can introduce you to some of the other guests at the Onsen who are interested in similar things. Good company is always a delightful thing." She smiles warmly at him. I hope he's not all about ikebana or something equally dull...

After pouring another cup of tea with a smile, Genji reaches into his obi and pulls forth a trio of green pieces of parchment. With expert hands he proceeds to fold the paper and in mere moments produces a rather expertly created Mantis
( http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1442842 ). Genji sets the Mantis aside with a smile, cocking his head.
"I have some interest in the fine arts; acting, music, Origami, poetry and storytelling." Genji sighs. "And, I am also fond of contest of martial prowess; duels, archery contests, tests of strength." Genji closes his eyes for a moment and shifts. It is clear from his movements that while he enjoys such things he would obviously be a spectator rather than participating. "I enjoy games of chance and games of strategy... though I would not consider myself competetive in any of them in particular." Genji turns his head, adjusting his braid. "Aside from these things, I am a simple scholar... and as such I am always willing to learn of others hobbies and interests." Genji smiles and stifles a chuckle. "And now I am going on about myself a bit too long." He bows. "I do hope I am not boring you. Tell me, aside from an obvious love of song, what hobbies do you partake of Tsuruchi-sama?"

Rekai watches him fold the paper. As the shape of a Mantis begins to emerge, she smiles.
"Me? Hobbies?" She muses over this for a moment. Do I *have* any hobbies? And here I was, worried he would have boring hobbies... She takes another sip of tea and clears her throat a little. "I... I appreciate many things... but I find that I would rather watch, and observe, than really participate in most activities. I am not particularly skilled in most of the martial or fine arts, but that does not stop me from being able to enjoy watching them." She spies a leaf stuck to her clothing and removes it absentmindedly.
"You say you are a scholar? What do you find yourself studying most often, Daidoji-sama?"
