Kanousei is genuine in his willingness to accompany her and her comments on Mantis security clearly did not bother him at all.

Now what tale should I tell, our latest voyage to the Ivory Kingdoms, my gempuku and resulting assignment to The Howl, or perhaps you would rather hear embarasing stories of my training aboard The Thunderous Dance at the hands of the Yoritomo Elite?"

Kanousei seems very happy to speak about his time at sea.

"Ah, the Ivory Kingdoms, very well then Isawa-sama. It is quite a place, unlike anything you will see here in Rokugan (please assume he describes the city he visited, I personaly know nothing at all about the Ivory Kingdoms). An interesting place to visit, I was disapointed when our visit was cut short, one of the nobles decided he wanted our ship and cargo so accused us of ridiculous crimes and attacked our ship. We fought off the attackers for a while but their numbers eventually forced us to fall back to our ship and sail away lest they give up on taking it and simply set it and our cargo aflame."

Kanousei hesitates at the end of teh story as if he has a bit more to say but is uncomfortable with going any further.

Kanousei pauses for a moment.

"Now, would prefer to hear another tale or perhaps one of you lovely young ladies will regale me with a story?"

Kanousei seems like he will be happy with either one.

Natsumi considers the stories she has been taught over the years for several minutes. Then, a smile plays across her face.
"Yoritomo-san, Ichiko-chan, I think that both of you will find this traditional tale quite appropriate considering the recent changes to befall the Onsen." Natsumi takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly before going into her tale, a traditional tale told many times before...

There was once a stone cutter who was dissatisfied with himself and with his position in life.
One day he passed a wealthy merchant's house. Through the open gateway, he saw many fine possessions and important visitors. "How powerful that merchant must be!" thought the stone cutter. He became very envious and wished that he could be like the merchant.
To his great surprise, he suddenly became the merchant, enjoying more luxuries and power than he had ever imagined, but envied and detested by those less wealthy than himself. Soon a high official passed by, carried in a sedan chair, accompanied by attendants and escorted by soldiers beating gongs. Everyone, no matter how wealthy, had to bow low before the procession. "How powerful that official is!" he thought. "I wish that I could be a high official!"
Then he became the high official, carried everywhere in his embroidered sedan chair, feared and hated by the people all around. It was a hot summer day, so the official felt very uncomfortable in the sticky sedan chair. He looked up at the sun. It shone proudly in the sky, unaffected by his presence. "How powerful the sun is!" he thought. "I wish that I could be the sun!"
Then he became the sun, shining fiercely down on everyone, scorching the fields, cursed by the farmers and laborers. But a huge black cloud moved between him and the earth, so that his light could no longer shine on everything below. "How powerful that storm cloud is!" he thought. "I wish that I could be a cloud!"
Then he became the cloud, flooding the fields and villages, shouted at by everyone. But soon he found that he was being pushed away by some great force, and realized that it was the wind. "How powerful it is!" he thought. "I wish that I could be the wind!"
Then he became the wind, blowing tiles off the roofs of houses, uprooting trees, feared and hated by all below him. But after a while, he ran up against something that would not move, no matter how forcefully he blew against it - a huge, towering rock. "How powerful that rock is!" he thought. "I wish that I could be a rock!"
Then he became the rock, more powerful than anything else on earth. But as he stood there, he heard the sound of a hammer pounding a chisel into the hard surface, and felt himself being changed. "What could be more powerful than I, the rock?" he thought. “I wish I could be something more powerful than the rock.” The rock became the stone cutter.

Natsumi's voice is soft and sorrowful, falling into a deeper sadness as the cutter moves through each of his various forms. Even at the tales end, the profound sadness hangs in the air as if, despite the stone cutter's realization, the entire story is meaningless. It is this feeling that makes the tale so profound.

Ichiko seemed absorbed in the tale, almost daydreaming...

Nat relates very well, gosh, wish i could do that so effortless like her, but then again, how many wish they could do the things i do? surely, i cannot make the things the other can without my magic, but, i can do them nonetheless...

Ichiko nods to Natsumi, thinking she had to do something, then, she realized the extra weight she was carrying and blushed a little...

Of course, the gift...

After Natsumi ended the story, she praised her

"That was very well told Natsumi"

Ichiko said teasingly, with a grin on her face

"I wish i could relate histories like you"
