Well I agree its un-Lion like tactics I suggest, but they are definitavely not above my character.

Also I think that in general, while the Lion uphold an honourable image, they are not above certain tactics themselves.

The only very naughty school the Lion have is the Ikoma Spymaster. The only school that I can think of that supports less than completely Nimuro-level boldness would be the Akodo Scouts. Still the former is a spy school, but every Clan has their upstanding Courtier and then their dirty work Courtier. I would rather (as an OOC stance since knowing about this IC would be a not-great thing), hold off on any truely dishonorable/unfounded tactics until we need to. It shouldn't be our first plan, because not all of us are Adian Prydes...

If we are to plan anything, we should share some feedback on the skills of our chars. It's hard to plan not knowing the assets. Besides, I think the head should speak before we descend into far-reaching speculations.

I've got a Spymaster with magistrate skills, and uh... "ninja" skills. (for lack of a better word).

Maybe we should make a thread (and get it sticked) with our character sheets, so all of us can check regularly what we can do.

I have started to try and befriend some Mantis. I am sure it would be tactically wise to have them as "friends" rather than enemies.

I think it should be important to know why the Mantis are here, and what their goals are. That way we could maybe help then on the stuff that wont affect us, and thus gain their trust, and also hinder them with things we dont want them do achieve, using subtlety.

I think it would be best to assign certain short-term and long-term objectives, decide how they should be achieved, and assign people to execute them.

I would like to go into this with a proper, well thought-out gameplan.

I have a suggestion. If we are going to give access to this forum to another Clan member at any point it would be unwise to let him/her know that almost all of us are spymasters.

Ok Id like to state that this whole "Planning" thing has been taken WAY out of Lion context, here. @_@

First off, not a very Lion thing to assasinate people straight out. Personally I say SMOOSH to that idea. Also, I don't think that blatant usage of blackmail-esque knowledge would be very Lion to do.

That being said, you guys playing Spymasters are starting to sound alot like "Scorpion", with these idiologies. For the record I'd like to recant, that Spymasters are not Scorpion; they are still first and foremost, LION!

This means that, one, while being Lion, you are amoung the most subtle, and discret schools in the empire. Use that to your advantage. I hate to reference Corey, aka Evil Bob, here but, look at Kyoro in winter court. No one suspected hiim Icly of being a spymaster, not even his own clan, abiet his family Daimyo knew, but that was to be expected.

Spymasters are some of the best courtiers in the empire, willing to do everything they can to better the Honor, and "Image" of their clan. This means: One, don't mess up your objectives. Two, don't allow anyone any suspicion as to what you truely are, not even your own clanmates, possibly not even your own school mates. Three, use your wit and patience to achieve your goals. And finally, number four, No not, and I mean do not, do anything dishonorable, that cannot be solved honorably. You are spymasters, yes. You are willing to sacrifice your honor for the clans, yes. But the key word there is Sacrifice, if it is an unnessicary loss, don't make it. You are not Ninja, nor are you assassins, in general. You are a highly speciallized, highly trained, operative group, that can function without central leadership.

All I have to say is: Be Subtle, and don't reveal your hands. especially when you haven't got one first. Be cautious, and extremely careful, not to aggitate, or aggrivate any situation, past what you directly can handle, unless you have extreme reason to do so.

There's one problem with concealing the spymaster identity: honor rank is very indicative. Without buying perceived honor one look will suffice for anyone who knows the setting to get suspicions. I am trying to legitimize my low honor by dishonorable behavior in a deviated Matsu fashion but the problem still stands for all of us.
