Ok peeps! We've had some players asking questions, and possibly rightly so, about the use of seduction and ways to stop or combat it. It is the view of this GMing team that seduction, while it is a contested roll, is an attack action. What this means is the following:
- If someone is rolling to seduce you, and it is not within you're character's reach mechanically, we're sorry. You've been seduced. There's no easy way around that. However, keep in mind that the GMs do have your character sheets, and they have been applying situational modifiers based upon your characters backgrounds, mood, where you are, and a myriad of other things that may help or hinder your roll. We will also continue to do such things. Whether this is an NPC seducing a
PC, a PC seducing another PC, or a PC seducing an NPC. All, in our eyes, are the same and all will be treated the same.
-The Seduction use of the Deceit Skill cannot be used on its own to force a character to sex if the player is OOC unwilling. More than likely, there will be at least a few sexual situations will occur in the game, and that if they are uncomfortable with their characters being in them, they should not be in this game.
HOWEVER, there are a couple of things to keep in mind when using the seduction emphasis, or when defending against the seduction emphasis.
- We ask that if you are in such a scene, seduction involved or not, that you post a fade to black before anything truly happens between the characters.
- You need OOC permission to go as far as that person is comfortable, after you fade to black, with their character. There are people who are sensitive to such things, and they are to be respected. Period. If you repeatedly offend their OOC sensibilities you will be banned. This is not negotiable.
- When/If your character is seduced, whether it is done through dice or mere roleplaying, and the boundaries have been established, this does not mean that your character is free to not feel the reprecussions of being seduced because your personal boundaries is to only allow your character to be kissed and nothing further. Your character is STILL bound to all of the psychological reactions and emotions that being seduced carries with it. Just because someone is comfortable with saying they're character slept with another character and someone else is only comfortable saying that their character kissed the other character and that is all, does not mean you are suffering from a lesser form of emotional trauma from being seduced. This is the only fair way for the GMs to adjuticate such a thing given the wide range of personal player preference.
- Seduction is NOT just for sexual relations. There are a myriad of uses for seduction. Getting something you want from someone. Setting
someone up as a pawn. Causing someone to get in a fight with someone else. Gaining access to a resource that was out of reach of the seductor/seductress before they went about seducing someone. The point is seducution isn't just for sex. Take advantage of all of it's uses, not just the most commonly thought about one!
All of this being said, we'd like to take the time to thank you for joining our game and we hope that you are enjoying yourself. If you have any problems with this ruling, we would prefer that you did not post it directly to the OOC forum but instead would contact us directly by contacting one of the Gamemasters directly, either Solrane, Evil_Bob, or Mishka. We will deal with your problems or questions quickly, and we hope, fairly. Posting it to the OOC forum will only clutter it up and cause further controversy. We ask again that you do not post your questions, comments, problems, agreements, or anything else in the OOC forum about this issue.
Again, we hope that you are enjoying yourselves here at Samurai Mura, and rest assured that we have a lot of fun things planned. We hope you'll stick around and experience it with us. Remember, you choose to be in this game, and for that we are grateful. If at any time you disagree so strongly with a ruling that the GM team makes that you feel that you cannot play anymore, we understand.
We'll be sorry and saddened to see you go, but that is your right. If you don't feel like being here, don't. We won't hold it against you and are sorry to see you go. |

In addition:
On adult level RP (anything of the edgy nature), the consequences MAY include any consequences for such things as are realistic. Consider those consequences as well while engaging in such RP.
